SEO needs time so can you please tell why people says SEO is batter then running a PPC Campaign…..!

    • Steve Hippel says:

      Hi Rechard.

You are clearly representing an SEO company yourself . I take great pleasure in publishing your comment and my reply, even though I would not normally. It will help me to prove a very valid point.

A good PPC campaign is undoubtedly a good way to inject business through a website. The trouble is a good PPC campaign can also take quite a bit of time and research before you get the balance right. This can also be quite costly. PPC is still effective but perhaps not as effective as it used to be.

Saying SEO takes time is like saying a piece of string is long without knowing how long the piece of string is. How long or costly an SEO campaign is will depend on how long it takes to achieve your gaols. I have in many cases put businesses on the front page of Google in just a few weeks. At other times it can take several months. A good SEO will be able to research a campaign and gauge how long and costly this will take.

Many SEO campaigns do not need to be ongoing where as PPC does. This means that in the medium to long term, SEO can be far more cost effective.

Another big problem with SEO is that even many SEO companies outsource the task and often to companies that are not capable of carrying out an efficient campaign. I get constant calls from companies offering to do SEO for me. These are often companies from India, Pakistan and the Philippines.

I am worldly enough to see that this is exactly what you are doing here. My stats tell me that you are from Pakistan and chances are you have been hired by someone who will put their margin on top and charge the unsuspecting client for doing nothing.

Many companies outsource to cheaper foreign companies from India or like your company from Pakistan. I have nothing against foreign people but anyone who out sources English speaking website SEO campaigns to companies like your own are possibly going to run into problems.
If your English is poor (as is yours) how can you possibly expect to deliver high quality links that not only maximise the value of the link but will stand some chance of delivering click through traffic. I can’t say how long you have been building links for this particular website but the Alexa rank of the website you link back to would suggest very low traffic levels.

There is much more to link building than an anchor text link. Let’s look at your own link and comment.

The website that your link leads back to is an English speaking website that does essay writing. You have used the words “custom essay writing” in your anchor text and that is good.

You have left a comment that makes no attempt to get your keyword or any LSI keywords in the comment text and this article clearly has nothing to do with essay writing. That means that apart from the anchor text, there is no relevance here and your link will carry little value in terms of keyword relevance.

Let me finish by offering you some advice. If you are leaving comments on blogs that simply do not relate to the keywords that you are optimising for, you need to be creative.

If I were you and I was leaving a comment here I might have tried something like this:-

Name Richard@Custom Essay Writing (not Rechard because you will be spotted as a web spammer instantly and most people would have deleted your comment or marked it as spam).

As an SEO yourself, I am sure that you are aware of the recent Google update, Penguin. Web spamming no longer means that you are bringing little if any value back to your clients website. It can actually do them serious harm.

Your comment itself could have gone something like this:-

      Hi Steve.
I run a website that deals with essay writing and I have heard many people say that SEO is better than PPC. Is this the case because I thought that SEO is time consuming. We have excellent essay writing services but I want to make our company more noticeable online. I really want to make the right decisions that will help my essay writing company increase our web business. I just wondered if you could spare a moment to shed some light on this.

Why I would do the comment this way.

Firstly, not only would the anchor text contain the keyword but there is an exact match of the keyword 3 times in text close to the anchor. This means that although my page has no relevance to the keyword, you have given it just a little and it is near the anchor text.

There are also two other potential keyword phrases (essay writing company and essay writing services) and a mention that you have an excellent service. This might have encouraged one or two clicks as well as the value of the link and would give more relevance to your anchor text.

Lastly, the comment is polite. It will stand a much better chance of being approved.

I know that doing this takes a little thought and a little more time but you will find that getting more comments published will save you time and money overall. The comments being more relevant will also carry more link value in a sense and it will take fewer comments to achieve the desired effect.

Now I guess you must feel like this is an attack on you and the company that you represent but I would like to finish by saying that is not the case at all.

As far as I am concerned, you are just a man working hard to make an honest living. My grievance lies with companies that present themselves as UK and US SEO companies, outsource the link building and pocket a handsome profit leaving the unsuspecting client with a raw deal.

When buying SEO services, just as with anything else, you get what you pay for.
